Presentation Description

Ever get the unexpected call that one of your top people is leaving? Someone you had big plans for? Hint: It’s probably not about the money. Or the hours. They’ve stopped learning, and with that they’ve stopped growing. Don’t just take them through a canned professional development process—take them through a personal and professional alignment that helps you both understand their values, motivations and where they’d like to play a role. The purpose of the roundtable is to share best practices in coaching employees to re-engage and be excited to participate over the long term.  

Attendees will:

• Understand the importance of tying personal values to organizational plans and development
• Learn a proven approach that can be used in succession planning and career planning
• Be able to walk a high potential employee through their own roadmap—including both strengths and self-sabotaging behaviors

With 25 years of experience in the consumer products and manufacturing industry, Susan Thomson brings a diverse background with small and mid-market companies with an excellent track record in growth and profitability, operations, and exceptional team performance.
Susan Thomson owns Madison-based ActionCOACH, a licensed franchise of ActionCOACH Business Coaching. Her company, which works with companies like Cost Cutters, United Vaccines, NCI-Roberts and Keva Sports Center, has been named a finalist by InBusiness Magazine’s Executive Choice participants five years running—2009-2013, and is an ActionCOACH Top 100 Global Firm.

Prior to ActionCOACH, Susan was the CEO of North America for Kapro Tools, where she led a dedicated team to double that company’s sales and profits in the US and Canada. Prior to joining Kapro, Susan spent 11 years with Fiskars Brands—maker of the famous Fiskars orange-handled scissors—in senior management roles ranging from marketing to R&D management, operations, global product alignment and worldwide corporate responsibilities.
