Morning Keynote

Rebecca Ryan - It's 2030.  Where is HR in Your Company

If you had the capacity to see far into the future of HR, how would you respond? In this fast-paced, dynamic keynote address, futurist Rebecca Ryan will guide us in exploring the future of HR in 2030 – and what this distant future means for us today. She will highlight four powerful trends that will rock HR and our organizations in the years to come. She will guide us in exploring a transformative vision for the future of HR and ask us to examine such questions as: Who will HR serve in the future? and How will it create value in this future?

Based upon this examination of this provocative new direction and role for HR, Rebecca will make the assertion that NOW is the time for action if HR is to stay relevant today and long into the future. By understanding the future and aligning HR’s strategy and goals to this future, you will ensure that HR stays relevant – but only if it starts that journey now.

A powerful bonus for experiencing this keynote is that you’ll learn to think like a futurist such that you, your team, and your organization are not caught flat-footed as things shift beneath your feet.

As a result of participating in this session, attendees will be able to:

• Learn four trends and how they will impact organizational structure and Human Resources
• Assess how “future-ready” your organization is, by analyzing the organization’s preparation for key events
• Understand the 100-year seasonal cycle in America, and how the “winter” season impacts workplaces.

Breakout Session 1

1-A Using Strategic Foresight in HR, Rebecca Ryan

In the same way that meteorologists use science to predict the weather, futurists use a few key insights and tools to determine probable scenarios for the future. In this session you will learn how to develop strategic insight by applying the tricks and tools of the futurist. You will then apply this strategic insight to your HR department and to HR’s role in your organization. This includes understanding and interpreting information from internal and external sources to better understand the future of your organization and contributing as a strong partner in your organization’s strategic planning process. Attend this session to learn how developing strategic insight strengthens your role, brings HR strategy into alignment with your organization’s strategic plan, and helps your organization succeed for the long term!

Outcomes:
  1. Learn what “STEEP” analysis is, and how it’s used in strategic foresight
  2. Learn the six steps of strategic foresight and how they are used in conjunction with strategic planning
  3. Identify one or more plausible future scenarios for your organization or department

2-A Uncrapify Your Life, Jeff Havens

With the invention of the award-winning Uncrapify Your Life! keynote address, Jeff Havens has turned the entire professional speaking world on its head. By encouraging his audiences to do the opposite of everything he recommends, Jeff offers a motivational address utterly unlike anything corporate America has ever seen, one that is guaranteed to leave your audience refreshed, surprised, and begging for more.

Designed for a broad spectrum of audiences, from entry-level workers to upper management, Uncrapify Your Life! is a study in exactly what not to do. Audiences will be 'encouraged' to criticize others and outsource blame before Jeff brings it all home with a more serious discussion about proper communication, customer service, and accountability practices. Although perfect for all occasions, Uncrapify Your Life! is most often used either as an opening keynote to help establish an energetic tone for a conference, or as a closing keynote to leave attendees laughing while still connecting them to the core takeaways of your meeting.
