Session 1:  Creating Effective Teams and the Impact on Attracting, Retaining and Maximizing Talent

Session 2:  No Thanks … I Took Another Offer

With the shifting workforce, we are seeing employee retention decrease. The reason? Often it’s management or team culture. This session will discuss Patrick Lencioni’s Five Cohesive Behaviors of a Team and help attendees identify practical things they can do to increase team cohesiveness, maximize performance and increase retention.

Participants will learn to:
  • Identify and discuss trends in employee retention.
  • Identify the key trust-building behaviors and skills that increase retention and engagement.
  • Show ways to actively increase employee performance through healthy conflict and commitment.
  • Discuss ways SHRM members can bring engage leadership and managers in this conversation within their organizations
As a “headhunter,” Jeff understands why candidates turn down offers…and the implications to an organization.  He provides insight into the thoughts and reasoning of employees who decide to or are contemplating accepting jobs in various organizations.  The program explores the 8 main reasons that qualified candidates turn down job offers from seemingly highly regarded organizations.  Using real-life examples, Jeff shows how you can build “selling” into your recruitment strategy to create a competitive advantage for the enterprise.  This sales perspective plays an integral role in the organization’s ability to attract and land the best talent in the marketplace.

As a result of this session, you will…
  • Recognize the need to have a cohesive recruitment strategy that has “selling” as a key component.
  • Prepare you to advocate to senior leadership the business and community implications of not “selling” as part of your strategic talent recruitment process.
  • Enhance your organizations image in the eyes of candidates and community to avoid turning off candidates and hurting your brand.
  • Understand selling techniques that will land “A” candidates that are entertaining an offer from other organizations and avoid “turndowns.”

Jeff Kortes didn’t become an employee retention speaker, author and expert by accident. His early career spanned 25 years as a human resources professional, trainer, and consultant. He has held leadership roles in companies such as ConAgra, Midas International, SPX, and Regal Ware, Inc.

During that quarter-century, Jeff saw countless employees come and go. The reasons rarely varied. The employers always suffered, though. Good people are hard to replace. Over time, Jeff devised a plan of inventive, common sense employee retention strategies to help businesses keep their best talent.

After three facility closures, a strike and a corporate buyout, Jeff put all his experience together and started Human Asset Management, LLC, a multi-segment HR services firm. He has helped hundreds of first-line supervisors, managers, and executives with training in employee retention and engagement

Jeff speaks and conducts workshops nationwide as an employee retention trainer. He draws on his experiences as a human resources professional, father, coach, martial artist and U.S. Army veteran to provide thought-provoking programs that yield results.

Jeff also works as a “headhunter,” finding candidates to fill organizations’ talent needs … and constantly learning about what drives candidates to choose one employer over another.
