Presentation Description

We often see the term “Seat At The Table,” referring to our HR profession, but what does that mean and how do you really get there?  How can we proactively influence decision making at our organization’s  strategic level rather than reacting to plans made without us?  Come learn from a veteran consultant who has over a decade of experience working directly with both CEO’s and HR professionals. 
 
Cay Villars will share specific tools and insights both for gaining influence if you are relatively new to your HR position or long established and wanting to have more say.  She will lead us in making (and implementing!), specific plans for joining the executive team, either formally or informally, and increasing your influence if you are already there.  Together we’ll explore what you need to know in order to take a CEO’s perspective, and how to be in rapport with their wide range of types and needs.  And if you are considering a search for a new organization, we’ll consider how to position your resume and what to ask to determine the opportunity and fit. 

Participants will learn:

1. The key attributes necessary to become a highly valued contributing partner in an executive team that plans the organization's strategic initiatives and operations.

2. Development options, techniques and resources (e.g. coaching and training) for gaining the skills required to become a full partner at the executive table.

3. What to look for in an organization/CEO to find an organization that will value HR at the executive table.

4. How to design and implement their personal “seat at the table” plan. 
 

Our Presenter

Cay Villars is a facilitator, executive coach and business strategy consultant with hands on experience enhancing revenues and profitability in positions of executive management, sales, marketing & business development.  She created her business, Celebrus Consulting, in 1997.   Cay facilitates CEO roundtables and retreats that integrate leadership development, employee engagement and strategic/operations planning.  She has facilitated the Senior HR roundtable for High Tech companies in Wisconsin since 2004.  Cay is a master practitioner of NLP, with over fifteen years of coaching experience, including seven years as a volunteer in Wisconsin prisons helping to free the minds and change the behavior of incarcerated men and women. She writes a monthly blog of her insights and experiences for InBusiness Magazine.
