Our PresentersJennifer S. Mirus is a partner in the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group at Boardman & Clark LLP in Madison, Wisconsin. Jennifer represents employers in all aspects of employment relations, including hiring, discipline and terminations, wage and hour issues, discrimination, ADA, FMLA, and harassment. Jennifer also has extensive experience negotiating and drafting employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and employee handbooks. Jennifer’s experience also includes conducting workplace investigations and human resources and management trainings for clients of all sizes.
Jennifer is a 1993 honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. She is a sought out speaker for human resources groups, she teaches employment law courses at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Small Business Development Center, and is an alumna of Leadership Greater Madison. Jennifer’s free time is spent soaking up chlorine at swim meets, watching football, and keeping up with her husband and her three daughters.
Troy Thompson is a partner and practice group leader of the Labor and Employment Practice Group. He is also a member of the Axley Brynelson Litigation Practice Group.Mr. Thompson represents private and public sector employers in all facets of traditional labor and employment, litigation and other business matters.
In addition to advising employers on day-to-day issues relating to personnel policies and practices affecting the labor force, Mr. Thompson represents the interests of management in actions pending before federal and state courts, as well as in administrative hearings and appeals. Mr. Thompson has appeared and practiced before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Wage and Hour Division of the United States Department of Labor (DOL), the Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA), the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission (WERC), the Wisconsin Wage and Hour Division, the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division (ERD), the Wisconsin Worker’s Compensation Division, the Wisconsin Unemployment Insurance Division and the Madison Equal Opportunities Commission (MEOC).Mr. Thompson’s review of a treatise entitled, “Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts,” was published in the Wisconsin Lawyer.
Meg Vergeront joined Stafford Rosenbaum LLP in 1994 after completing a judicial clerkship with Judge Ralph Adam Fine of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. She currently chairs the firm's Business Law Practice Group.
A large part of Ms. Vergeront's practice is devoted to representing employers in federal and state litigation. She defends employers against a broad range of claims, from harassment and discrimination claims, to wage and hour claims, to claims of union contract violations.
Ms. Vergeront also consults with employers on a regular basis with regard to drafting and implementing general employment policies, such as sexual harassment and drug and alcohol testing policies. Additionally, she helps employers address specific issues relating to discipline and discharge of employees, working closely with them to find common sense resolutions to the issues and avoid litigation.
