Understanding business functions and business acumen is critical to achieve success as the value-added human resources partner your business units and executive teams need you to be. 

In this dynamic session we will discuss the key business functions of Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Operations and Sales and how they work together.  We will also learn what the common, yet sometimes confusing business terms like financial accounting, managerial accounting, fixed costs, variable costs and other business acumen terms mean, ensuring we are positioned to add even more value in our roles as Human Resource Professionals. 

The presentation is a must for every Human Resources Professional regardless of position or experience level.

Topics Include:
•           Definition of key business functions – the 5 parts of a business
•           Easy to understand definitions of key business terms
•           Ways to increase revenue
•           Lifetime value (LV)
•           Sustainable growth cycle

As the President of Weber Business Services, LLC, a management consulting, training, and speaking firm headquartered near Harrisburg, PA, Liz provides strategic and succession planning, executive coaching, and comprehensive leadership training to association boards and leadership teams, as well as to businesses and government agencies.
 
Liz is one of fewer than 100 people in the U.S. to hold both the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designations; the highest earned designations in two different professions. She also holds an MBA in International Business.
 
In addition to writing nine leadership books, and writing her monthly Manager’s Corner column, Liz has also supervised association activities in 129 countries and has consulted with organizations in over 20 countries. Liz’s association leadership experience includes serving on the board and as president for numerous local associations, as well as serving six years as a National Board Director for The National Speakers Association. In her role in as a National Director, Liz twice earned the President’s Award: Once for revamping the Association’s strategic planning process, and once for her leadership of a strategic global task force.



 
 
Julie Kowalski is a seasoned thought leader, consultant, executive coach, superb facilitator and phenomenal motivational speaker.  She’s also an energetic, and spirited professional trainer.  Through her own working history, Julie has gained valuable insight and acumen into the science of what it takes to start and run successful businesses as well as the art of earning and retaining customer and employee loyalty.   Julie maintains working relationships with a wide variety of business owners and executives from small family-owned businesses to Fortune 100 companies. 
 
Julie has spent her career helping employees create self-sufficient and streamlined processes which lead customers to be delighted and staff to be rewarded with success.  Julie’s enthusiasm and energy naturally encourage her participants to actively engage in learning.  
 
Besides being named one of the “World’s Most Creative Thinkers” by bestselling author Seth Godin in his book Purple Cow, Julie possesses over 25 years of first-hand business experience.  Her accomplishments include personally starting and successfully managing multimillion-dollar companies.
