GMA SHRM Members eligible Greater Madison Area SHRM, in partnership with the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Madison, is offering two $500scholarships to GMA SHRM members pursuing their SHRM certification. These scholarships are used to subsidize the cost of the SBDC’s certification prep course. This is one of the easiest scholarships to apply for - so apply now!

Current GMA SHRM local and national member
Planning to enroll in the Fall 2025 SBDC’s SHRM certification prep course
Employer is not covering the cost of the course

Explanation of why SHRM certification
Connection to how the SHRM certification will benefit applicant in their career, including how they will leverage the knowledge obtained
To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must provide the following information:
A one-page document answering the following questions:
Why are you pursuing your SHRM certification?
What future impact do you hope to make in the HR field?
How will this scholarship help you achieve your goals?
Short summary of GMA SHRM involvement and/or activities attended
Current resume (Note: Please include community involvement, honors, awards, certificates, and leadership involvement)
All scholarship applications must be submitted by July 31, 2025to be considered. Application materials should be sent as 1 pdf file to chapteradmin@gmashrm.org. By submitting your application, you agree to the certification and acknowledgement statement below:
GMA SHRM Certification Committee, in collaboration with the President’s team, has the sole responsibility for selecting recipients based on criteria as set forth in the scholarship guidelines. This application becomes property of GMA SHRM. GMA SHRM recommends you keep a copy in your files. By electronically submitting this application, I acknowledge decisions of GMA SHRM are final. I certify that I meet the basic eligibility requirements of the program as described in the brochure and the information provided is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. If requested, I agree to provide proof of information I have given on this form. Falsification of information may result in termination of any scholarship granted.
All applicants will be notified August 15, 2025. Scholarship payments will be made in the form of a discounted class registration through the SBDC. Selected recipients will be promoted on GMA SHRM’s website, the SBDC’s website, and social media outlets.
