HOT TOPICS IN EMPLOYMENT LAW: WAGE AND HOUR COMPLIANCE
|

|
Formerly known as the Wednesday In The Park, the new “My GMA SHRM Toolbox” sessions are geared to provide HR professionals at all levels an opportunity to further their learning in the core areas of Human Resources. The Toolbox session is meant to be a facilitated & interactive discussion to assist in this learning experience.
The most costly HR mistakes are in Wage and Hour Law as the State and Federal Labor Standards Acts are technical and tricky. Though the letter of the law has not changed in several years, the ground has shifted in how they apply. Work from home; court re-interpretations; the electronic workplace; reinvigorated federal enforcement on exempt and independent contractor status; and changes in other laws (FMLA, ADA, and the Lilly Ledbetter Act) have re-contoured the surface and create continuing challenges for HR.
How comfortable that you are administering your programs appropriately? Be sure to attend this session as it will aid your compliance in wage and hour law.
Bob Gregg will also review the most significant employment issues of the past year, and forecast the trends and hot topics to expect for 2010 including
Recent Laws : FMLA Expansion; GINA; Domestic Partners; Wis. S.B. 20 (the most significant new liability issue).
What’s New from the Supreme Court : Cases to Expect in 2010.
Significant Recent Decisions : The "Unlimited" Statutes of Limitations; Ethics; Discrimination; FMLA; Independent Contractors; Strangest Cases of 2009.
Coming Attractions : The Top Five Proposed Federal and Wisconsin laws.
Trends : Personal Liability; Work from Home and Liability for "Off-the-Job" Behavior; Electronics: Right to Monitor v. Employee Privacy Rights.
With the ever changing employment law landscape, these timely updates will ensure you are up to speed on how these changes affect/will affect your workplaces. Be sure to register today, registration will fill up fast!
